The three settings, and what they do

  • Topic

    The only content the AI gets from you. Include the angle and the audience: “why cats knock things off tables, for new cat owners” beats “cats”.

  • Style

    Twelve options, from General and Fun Facts to Horror and Philosophy. The style word goes into the request and mostly changes structure and tone, not facts.

  • Duration

    A slider from 10 to 60 seconds. The AI aims for that length, but only roughly, so count the spoken words afterwards using the table below.

Watch habits

Writing for how Shorts are actually watched

A Short plays on repeat in a swipe feed, sits on a channel next to longer videos, and can be found through YouTube search. Each of those habits suggests one edit to the draft the generator gives you.

  1. Open on the answer, not the question

    In the Shorts feed the next video is one swipe away. Start with the result, the number or the twist, then explain it. If the draft opens with “Have you ever wondered…”, delete that line and see whether the second one works better as the opener. It usually does.

  2. Make the ending lead back to the start

    Shorts replay automatically, so a last line that sets up the first one makes the replay feel intentional. For a list, end on “and number one is…” only if number one is what you opened with. Never end on a dead stop like “thanks for watching”.

  3. Say the search term out loud

    People search YouTube for answers, so name the topic in plain words in the first sentence and in the title. Check the title fits with the YouTube title length checker, and draft the description with the AI YouTube title and description generator.

  4. Point to one longer video

    YouTube lets you attach a related video to each Short. Write the script so it fully answers a small question and leaves the bigger one for that video: “that is the trick; the full routine is linked above.” The Short still has to work for someone who never clicks.

  5. Post when your viewers are around

Up to three minutes for vertical or square videos uploaded since October 2024. This generator’s slider stops at 60 seconds, which covers most Shorts. For a longer one, generate at 60 and add the extra beats yourself rather than padding every line.

The limit is two drafts a day for each IP address, and the counter clears at midnight UTC. The drafts come from OpenAI’s GPT-3.5 Turbo, which writes fast but checks nothing, so verify any fact, statistic or quote before it goes into a Short with your channel name on it.

The structure is nearly the same: hook, a few beats, a payoff. The difference is the goal: TikTok’s Creator Rewards Program only pays for videos over one minute, while Shorts can earn at any length. The TikTok script generator has the same styles and a slider up to 120 seconds.
